“Fairy Garden” Kiera Fisher Studio Workshop 2019 Junior
This was my third semester taking ceramics, my second in studio workshop. Last year, I incorporated nature in my ceramics by glueing rocks and sticks to the outside of my pots. This year, I wanted to make sectional planters, as I am someone who loves to grow plants all around the house. To make my planters, I decided to coil build them using hand rolled coils to create an organic look. For glaze, I used an earthy color that creates a cracking texture called cactus crawl. For my last Trinity art show, I wanted to create a peaceful, zen-like garden scene that incorporated some decorative plants as well as some herbs and vegetables. If you look, you will see that I have planted a few miniature shrubs and dwarf plants as well as some herbs like basil and parsley. My personal favorite plant however would have to be my avocado that is two months old now-- his name is Avagadro if you know anything about Chemistry. I grew him right out of an avocado pit and he is a slow grower but hopefully one day he will make some amazing guacamole!
